Katie Devolites

Executive Director
I graduated from Shenandoah University in 2016 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Public Health. I married my husband who is a local pastor in 2016. We have two wonderful children who bring us so much joy! I have been at the Center since September of 2018 and am so excited to see the Center keep growing!
 
 
 

Huei-Yi (Whitney) Lan

  Assistant Director/   Activity Director

I began work at the Center in 2014 after completing my internship here. I graduated from the Master of Music Therapy program at Shenandoah University in 2017. In 2018, I got married and my girl joined our family in 2020. I love to travel and discover the world and experience different cultures. The Center and our participants bring me a lot of blessings and joy.

Dawn Clarke

Administrative Assistant

I came to the ACC in 2009 as a volunteer and began working here in 2010. I have been married for 24 years and I have two wonderful children. The Center brings me great joy. I am thankful for my second family!

Carol Peterson

Certified Nursing Assistant

I am a wife and mom of four children. I have five grandchildren. I highly regard God first in life. I came to Winchester 25 years ago from Maryland and I have been a CNA for 40 years. One of my soul missions is to help people. I feel I am right where I need to be.

         

Cat Peele

Activity Assistant

I joined the ACC team in 2024. I enjoy writing stories, listening to a wide variety of music, and learning about various things around the world. I also enjoy helping others and providing a place where our clients can come and enjoy doing various activities. 

Rachel Taylor

Activity Assistant

I started my journey at the ACC as a student intern and I was given the opportunity to begin working here shortly after. I am a student in the doctoral of Occupational Therapy Program at Shenandoah University. The Center brings so much joy to my life, and I am so grateful to be a part of such an incredible place!

       

 

Sherry Riley

Registered Nurse

I am a registered nurse who lives in Stephens City, VA with my husband. We have 2 children. I specialize in working with the geriatric population providing resources and guidance for care needs. I enjoy gardening, canning and bee keeping.

     

Jodie Golden

Licensed Practical Nurse

I joined ACC in 2024. I have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I’ve worked in various settings since I started healthcare over 20 years ago. Being a nurse was never a choice for me it was a calling. My passion is helping others. I enjoy working with such a wonderful team.

Linda Shimer, President

I have been the chairman of the fundraising committee at the Adult Care Center for three years. I am a retired Speech Language Pathologist. I volunteer at the Center one to two times a week helping with activities including the Music Program. I have two grown sons and a granddaughter in California and two cats that keep me company.

Rebecca G. Morrison, Vice – President

Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist specializing in health and wellness as well as psychotherapy for issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma history. I particularly enjoy working with patients who have chronic health issues and their family members/caretakers. Born and raised in Winchester, VA and Inwood, WV areas, my love of family, friends and community have kept me close to home. I am active in the community and stay busy with my twins.

It is an honor and a privilege to be a Board Member of the Adult Care Center of the NSV. My family, Church and the community are important to me. They are an integral part of my mission in serving others.

Rosalie Lewis, Secretary

I moved to Winchester, VA in 2003 and for the first time in my life, live very close to my work. I have two grown sons and two adorable granddaughters that keep me on my toes! I have a real passion for nursing which has been a 47 – year, amazing adventure. I look forward to working with very talented professionals that support a great cause – our aging population.

Ann B. Colson

RN, CCRN, BSN

I am married with two grown children, and two grandchildren. I have lived in this area most of my life. After 40 years, I have recently retired as a Registered Nurse from the Winchester Medical Center ICU. I have two siblings, Sally Booth Stryker and David Booth.
I also volunteer at the Center assisting with activities once a week.

A very proud momma of two very beautiful children, inside and out. A  wife to the most supportive husband on earth. The outside is my sanctuary, it’s my peaceful escape. Family and nature my true loves!!!

 

Janet Murphy

I am originally from New Jersey where I was a Remedial Reading Teacher and an elementary grade teacher for 29 years. My husband, of 43 years, and I retired and moved to Winchester five years ago to be near our two girls and our three granddaughters. My passion for singing includes church choirs, a women’s choir for 20 years and a SATB choir for 12 years. I attend Braddock Street UMC and sing in the sanctuary choir. I work with the Backpack feeding program and Reading Buddies through the church. I look forward to working with the Adult Care Center.

Jeannie Shiley

NHA, CASP

I am the President and Chief Executive Officer at Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury.  SVWC is a lifecare retirement community located in Winchester, VA. I attend Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church and am a member of the Winchester Rotary Club. I also serve on the LeadingAge Virginia Board. I am a graduate of Shepherd College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and am a certified aging services professional. My favorite thing is spending time with my family especially my grandchildren. I live in Bunker Hill, WV with my husband of 31 years.

Varina ‘Vee’ Tavenner

I have lived in the Winchester area since 1970. I have a husband, Steve, and two adult sons. I graduated from JMU in 1983 with a double major in psychology and social work. I retired in 2017 after having worked thirty-three years for the Social Security Administration. I enjoy sports, music, spending time with family and friends and walking our dog, Sadie. The ACC provides wonderful services to adults in our community. It is an honor to be serving on the board of the ACC with such dedicated staff and board members.
I also volunteer at the Center assisting with activities once a week.

   

Dr. Mariecken Fowler

Neurologist
Consultant to the Adult Care Center

Dr. Fowler established the Memory Care Center and is a former partner of Winchester Neurological Consultants. She currently works as a TeleNeurologist serving patients with acute neurological issues all across the United States.

Diane Shipe

I became involved with the Adult Care Center when I brought my Dad to the Center in 2004. He attended for three years; the Center’s activities and staff brought joy to his life during a difficult period. My background is in health services administration. I became a member of the Board of Directors and subsequently served as Board Chair and Secretary. After serving the maximum number of terms on the Board, I have continued my involvement as a volunteer. I did quilting with the ladies for several years. Now I play Life Stories with participants on Wednesday mornings. My husband Chris and I are Honorary Members of the Board of Directors.

I have four children who are all thriving. I became a nurse to volunteer at the Center.  

Liza Herring

I have been a critical care nurse for 17 years. I graduated from Shenandoah University with my BSN. My daily goals in life are to make a difference in someone else’s life, big or small. My favorite thing to do is watch my son, Lane play baseball.
